Tribute to Alexander Mcqueen.
I woke up this morning, went for a ride in the car and heard the tragic news. Alexander Mcqueen was found in peace in his home. This news is tragic, for the world and especially his family. He is one of the most reknowned british designer in the world. His designs inspire and beautifies. He started his career at the age of 16. He received the title "British Designer of the Year" four times, as well as International Designer of the Year. McQueen worked as the head designer at Givenchy for five years before starting the Alexander McQueen and McQ labels. This versatile icon designed a special line of trainers for Puma and his own perfumes, Kingdom and Queen.
Always a visionary, McQueen will be missed by all who love fashion.
His collections were eccentric and highly detailed pieces full of precise British tailoring combined with French couture. Billowy dresses cut in hourglass silhouettes and sharp, angular suits were key pieces defined in his work. He is especially known for dark, romantic evening gowns that could only have been created by McQueen.Aside from all the connections McQueen had with the fashion world, he was also very involved with the music world. He was drawn to outrageous artists Bjork and Lady Gaga. McQueen seemed to use these musicians as his muses. Executing their particular unconventional styles perfectly, he designed their clothing, created extreme looks and even directed music videos.
Six ways Alexander Mcqueen changed the fashion world.
BUMSTERS
Alexander McQueen was the man who made the builder's bum fashionable. His "bumsters", which appeared in 1996, spawned the trend in perilously low-rise, crevice-revealing jeans.
SKULL PRINTS
One enduring motif which McQueen transported from catwalk to the High Street was the skull. His trademark scarf bearing the design has become a celebrity must-have. Johnny Depp, Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Ritchie and Cameron Diaz are among the stars who have been snapped wearing it.
TAILORING
He also created beautiful, beautiful wearable clothes… the razor-sharp suit, the pencil skirts, the beautiful prints in the spring and summer collection
THEATRICAL CATWALK SHOWS
Birdcages, butterflies, feathered wings, towering heels and even a catwalk filled with water - McQueen is credited with bringing theatrical drama to the catwalk.
MOULD-BREAKING MODELS
McQueen liked to shock and surprise people at his catwalk shows, and wasn't a designer who liked to conform to fashion industry norms.
EXTREME SILHOUETTES
Some of McQueen's most memorable designs were outlandish, unconventional and plain bizarre.
All these is from a man who is so great,
that he is able to change the world.
All thanks to this man, right here.
Alexander Mcqueen.
