    Life of Pi (movie review)

    Warning: May contain spoilers

    Plot:
This story is about a Piscine Molitor Patel, also known as Pi. He grew up in a zoo owned by his father in Pondicherry with his family. As a young boy, he learnt about the hindu, muslim and christianity and how God presented himself in different ways.

Then one day, he had to move to Canada due to political concerns. They took a ship, loaded with their zoo animals on board. However, half way through the journey, the ship wrecked and Pi finds himself on a boat with a zebra, an orang utan (Orange juice), a spotted hyena and of course, the tiger called Richard Parker. With an injured leg, the zebra was then eaten by the hyena, then later on, the hyena attacks the orang utan. Pi was infuriated by the hyena that he almost killed it but he held back at the last minute. As Pi retreats, the tiger then attacks the hyena and consumes it.

Pi feeling threatened, he builds a raft to stay away from the tiger, feeds it, learnt to gather water, and finally train the tiger. They went through ups and downs in the sea, seeing things that he himself doubts, and Pi bonds with the tiger.

When he was saved, the tiger left him without saying a word. When asked to tell what happened to him, Pi told two stories. One with the animals and one without. Asked to choose which story to believe in.

    What I think:
After coming back from the premiere, I couldn't stop thinking about it.
    It is definitely thought-provoking.
It taught me to see things in a different perspective in terms of life, friendship and religion.

It is beautifully made, and i'd say good job as it is an amazing story.
Something I would recommend people to watch.

    The story:
The story is totally different from the usual movies.
You don't get action flicks, hot chicks, romance.
You get a straightforward story of a boy who learns to live in the sea with a tiger.

Pi, sitting on a raft, away from the tiger.

There are slight comedy in it which keeps the audience entertained.
And I would say, i was so taken by it that the moment it ended, it felt as if it was only an hour.

    The effects:
    3-D wise? amazing.
I couldn't differentiate between what was real and what was not.

Isn't it beautiful? Looked so real with the 3-D effect.

When i first saw it, I couldn't quite make any sense out of it.

When the tiger leapt towards the screen, I jumped (embarassed).
What Ang Lee did was an amazing job and this movie will never go out of date.

However, I did see some flaws in the animation.
At certain times, the tiger would seem a little too animated. The animals would feel fake.
But well, who can make everything look good eh?

    The characters:
Pi, played by Suraj Sharma (boy) and Irfan Khan (adult) did a great job.
The acting feels so real that I could feel his fear and sorrow.
Seeing him cry, i teared. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN OFTEN.
I think he deserves an award.

One of the scenes when he gave himself to God.

"A riot of saturated colour and delirious imagination, Ang Lee's adap radiates spirituality. But it's also a simple, thrilling and gently uplifting tale of a boy, a boat and a tiger." - Matt Mueler

    I rate this movie: 4.5/5 !

    n. the awareness of the smallness of your perspective, by which you couldn’t possibly draw any meaningful conclusions at all, about the world or the past or the complexities of culture, because although your life is an epic and unrepeatable anecdote, it still only has a sample size of one, and may end up being the control for a much wilder experiment happening in the next room.

    The person behind this blog

She is a 21 year-old awkwardly enthusiastic individual who loves the idea of photography and is constantly looking for opportunities to travel around the world.

She loves lounging the around the house watching TV shows and movies in her pajamas while sipping tea (English breakfast is the way to go).

If you wish to make her happy, buy her candy, but do not lure her into dark alleys with those. Also, she finds it stupid to refer to herself as a third person.
