War of The Worlds Goliath (Review)

Warning: This review may contain spoilers.

Well well well, a malaysian movie. I've finally watched one. It is produced by a Kuala Lumpur based Tripod Entertainment, in association with Malaysia's multimedia Development Corporation (MDec), in collaboration with Epoch Ink Animation (L.A) and Sun Min Image Pictures (Seoul)

    Plot:
A boy's parents were killed by martians. The martians were then killed by germs. As the boy grew up and joined A.R.E.S (a force to protect the earth), the martians decided to come back to invade earth with their newly improved immunity against the germs and they're now stronger than ever. The boy, who is now a captain, leads his team to fight against the martians. Finally, the people of the earth won by having the A.R.E.S general sacrifice his life and his comrades in order to kill the aliens.

    What I think:
The first thing I did after coming out of the cinema hall? laugh.
I'm sorry to be this mean, but it's the truth.
I couldn't help but to laugh at the many illogical things and childish thoughts that went into this movie.
The first thing that I thought about this movie was, "the writer must be drunk when he wrote this"
    No offence, but yeah.

Plus, it was recognized as the Best 3D Animated Feature Film at the Los Angeles 3D Film Festival at the LA Live. (Digital News Asia,2012) Digital News Asia

    I mean come on. Omg.

    The story:
The story was boring, long and cliché.
So predictable also that I almost fell asleep in the cinema.
P/s: there was i think less than 20 people in the cinema with me.

During the movie, there was a sudden hook up scene.
I MEAN LIKE, it was all serious and all until the hook up scene came up.
Wtf. It's hilarious to have it appear so suddenly.

There was also a scene where they tried to kill the alien by shooting it multiple times (but failed),
then Shah (a guy in the movie) jumped from above the alien,
landed on it and stabbed the alien 2 to 5 times with his keris, THAT THING DIED.
What sort of abomination is this. LOLOL.

F.Y.I., keris is a knife like thing with curved sides like the one in the picture. It was once used by Malayan warriors in wars.
    Meet Shah... and his keris.

     The effects and animation:
Well, i've got to admit that it's not all that bad.
    The animation was pretty good.
    3-D wise? Seems legit.
But it somehow reminds me of marvel. LOL
For the first few minutes of the movie, I thought Batman and Spiderman was going to appear.

Ok lah right? Pretty good animation.

    The characters:
    Well the characters, uhmm...
    They're multiracial?
    AHAH !
Apparently, they're from different countries and all.
Gotta give credits to them for attempting to unite the world.

One thing that I am not sure about though.
    WHO IS THE MAIN CHARACTER?
The starting of the movie, it focused on the captain (2nd from left in the picture)
The second half of the movie was on the general.
    WHICH? TELL ME. WHICH !

    The 5 (supposedly) main characters
From left/behind: Jennifer carter, Eric wells, I-don't-remember-his-name irish guy, Not quite sure either, and Shah

Well, I would say that Malaysia definitely has a long way to go in terms of making movies.
I'm disappointed in the fact that we (who can be creative) are creating these type of movies.
Most of the Malaysian movies lack passion, done just to earn money.
But this, i believe there's some real effort behind this and I would say, well done (in terms of effort)
But in terms of creativity, THINK HARDER.
    <3 p="p">

    I rate this movie, 1.5/5

Picture credits goes to google images, loyar buruk.

Your being generous:) Other than the competent designs from Studio Climb in Malaysia this movie is a waste of time and a lot of money and effort. Hopefully the talent that deserves credit will not be undermined by the failure of this project.

Indeed. People should recognize the talents and not judge them by the turnout of the movie.

    n. the awareness of the smallness of your perspective, by which you couldn’t possibly draw any meaningful conclusions at all, about the world or the past or the complexities of culture, because although your life is an epic and unrepeatable anecdote, it still only has a sample size of one, and may end up being the control for a much wilder experiment happening in the next room.

    The person behind this blog

She is a 21 year-old awkwardly enthusiastic individual who loves the idea of photography and is constantly looking for opportunities to travel around the world.

She loves lounging the around the house watching TV shows and movies in her pajamas while sipping tea (English breakfast is the way to go).

If you wish to make her happy, buy her candy, but do not lure her into dark alleys with those. Also, she finds it stupid to refer to herself as a third person.
