It was an amazing event that featured local artists and bands by displaying their videos on stage as well as allowing them to perform on stage. Totally awesome how I discovered that Malaysian bands are indeed talented. Malaysia, we should no longer be ashamed (if you are) of our own talents.
Firstly, Dash performed with their high-energy set to warm the audience up for upcoming performers. I think they did an overall good job but the singer just would not stop flipping his hair. I almost wanted to head up to the stage and help him clip it up.
Anyways, their ending was totally phenomenal in which all band members (yes, all of them) started joining the drummer in playing the drums. It was totally awesome to see how they coordinated and with 5 people, how they sounded so amazing.
GOOD JOB GUYS. I SO PROUD OF YOU as a fellow Malaysian. T.T
Second was Oj Law with his special mix of Banana indie Soulrocktronica. Funky names. heh heh. He did great. I like it how he toyed with the audience's emotions by telling the audience, "Are you guys excited for magic!? But we have one more song to go" (not exactly what he said cause I do not have a great memory). Despite his great performance, his was marred with technical difficulties involving his microphone. His voice was of a lower volume compared to the rest of the band. Depressing.
Shame on the technology.
The last was of course Magic!
Well... his performance has its ups and downs.
The ups were the fact that he shared about the band's difficult beginning and how it platforms like Amplify helps upcoming performers. He did a great rendition of Stevie Wonder's Master Blaster and his performance of his own songs, were of course amazing.
The downs were his highly inappropriate version of Cindy Lauper's "Girls just wanna have fun" ticked me off. Well, it might just be me. I did notice how everyone else enjoyed the performance though, moving along with the music and singing along. ;)
After the back-breaking 2-3 hours of standing, my feet was about to break and my back, impossible. This is when I was hit with the fact that Viper Challenge 2014 is coming up. GASPPP.
Time to work out! well... maybe. I wish I came with wheels, so I could roll myself towards the finishing line.
