It was in fact, my first experience and for it to be held so close to home, it was totally nostalgic.
The stand-up comedians included our own Malaysian bred ones like Kuah Jen Han and Andrew Netto, and "imported" comedian like Kumar, Arj Barker, Ted Alexandro and Jon Atherton.
Of course it was without a doubt the most laughter I have had for months.
The comedians made jokes of both their countries and our country.
Some may have found it totally offensive, but I found it invigorating to finally hear the truth, the sad hilarious truth.
For it to be held so close to home and the venue being right next to my primary school, it also brought back so many memories.
We took a short walk into the school compounds and found ourselves talking to the security guards as well as the Vice president of the Parent-Teacher Association.
We talked about the teachers that taught me, the headmaster I loved with all my heart (for all the times he helped me out and played UNO with me), and even talked about many other random things.
Albeit short, the conversation was one of quality. We connected right away as random strangers sharing similar experiences in a school that was once 'me'. Totally worth it.
This entire trip back to school and stand-up comedy show had me laughing so much.
It filled me with warmth I had not felt in a few weeks.
For a moment, everything bleak glowed.
Thank you so much for the opportunity and giving me the little cheering up I needed.
